The Power of Now

There are far too many people waiting till they lose weight or buy the top of the range Audi so that they can finally settle down, be happy and enjoy life. Eeek! Let me say this, please please don’t wait until everything is perfect. Don’t wait until you graduate or until you empty the entire contents of your wardrobe and go on a massive shopping spree or until you travel to New York to start enjoying life. You must remember that nothing will ever be perfect. Never. There will always be obstacles and imperfections. Always. The way I see things is that the only time which is perfect is indeed now and it is up to you to make the most of it. Accept it for all it brings, the ups and downs, the rights and wrongs. Now is the only time you have. Don’t spoil it by over thinking about what you don’t have or what you could have.

The past has gone, it cannot be changed and the future is a result of all today’s  actions and thoughts. You might find yourself clinging on to the past for a bit too long or endlessly planning for the future. It is OK to give some time and thought to thinking of the past and future but dwelling on it for too long is destructive. In the process you miss the present. How sad! Learn from the past and plan for the future. Other than that direct all your attention to the present. We must live in the now, and not the past, or the future.

”We can draw lessons from the past, but we cannot live in it”  (Lyndon B. Johnson)

Dream of now. See what huge potential there is for you today. If you fancy learning Chinese, or getting your driver’s license or opening your own beauty parlour start now. You always have today.

”The time is now, the place is here. Stay in the present. You can do nothing to change the past, and the future will never come exactly as you plan or hope for” (Dan Millman)

” For what it’s worth, it’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit… start whenever you want… you can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that stop you. I hope you feel things that you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life that you’re proud of and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again” (Benjamin Button)
